In IOC v Anderson & ors, the Court of Arbitration for Sport was considering whether the Sydney Olympics 4x100 metres and 4x 400 metres gold medal relay team members, which had included Marion Jones, since stripped of her gold medal, should also be stripped of their medals. The Tribunal concluded that, there being no express and clear rule at the time providing that the two relay teams could be disqualified if one of their members committed a doping offence, the team members should not be stripped of their medals.
